CELL CYCLE

Essential Question

What is the role of Mitosis in Producing and Maintaining complex

Organisms?

In order for our cells to grow and for us to develop we need Mitosis.  The cell cycle explains how our cells go through their daily functions and grow to maintain homeostasis.  We will look at what happens if something in this cycle GOES WRONG, as well as the basic process that allows organisms to grow, develop and repair.
Below are our Learning Targets for this unit.  As with other units, these are treated as mastery goals.  All students have the opportunity to retake our learning target quizzes to show mastery of content.  They must come to a review session before they can retake the quiz.  Sessions are held at lunch in my classroom every Tuesday and Thursday.
  1. Given a model, I CAN identify/describe the key components and processes involved in cell division.
  2. Given an example, I CAN describe the process of cell division and explain its role in maintaining life.
What is the Cell Cycle?  How does it keep our cells healthy and growing?
Cell Cycle
It is important for our Cell Cycle to continue to happen correctly.  There are major issues that might happen if something goes wrong with cell Division or DNA replicaiton
